Telescent Appoints Industry Veteran Vijay Vusirikala to its Board of Directors — Telescent

Irvine, California – December 3, 2024 - Telescent, a leading manufacturer of Optical Circuit Switches (OCS) and automated fiber patch-panels for network and data center operators, proudly announces that Vijay Vusirikala has joined its Board of Directors. Vusirikala, a distinguished leader in network engineering and optical technologies, brings a wealth of experience that will further elevate Telescent’s mission to transform optical networking through automation and advanced technology solutions.

Currently serving as Vice President of Global Network Engineering at a stealth AI infrastructure startup, Vusirikala focuses on advancing data center and backbone networking technologies. He joins the Telescent Board after a successful 14-year career at Google, where he played a pivotal role in building and optimizing one of the world's largest network infrastructures. His leadership spanned various groundbreaking initiatives, including Optical and Submarine Technologies, Open and Disaggregated Transport, and Network Automation.

In addition to his leadership at Google, Vusirikala has held key roles at Infinera, Motorola, and Sycamore Networks, where he contributed to advancements in core, metro, and access networking products. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the ECE Department at the University of Maryland and the Long Range Planning Committee for the Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) conference, further cementing his position as a thought leader in the field.

Vusirikala's contributions to the industry are extensive, with over 75 publications and 17 patents to his name. He holds a BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering from IIT Madras and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
